The International Parking Institute (IPI) is the premier authority on parking and interrelated transportation components. Founded in 1962, IPI is a multifunctional association comprised of more than 1,300 parking professionals who come from various segments of the parking industry.

Parking professionals educate, lead and demonstrate expertise in:

• Sophisticated intermodal transportation and land use practices;
• Community design, development, safety and security in services, mobility and aesthetics;
• Generating revenue to offset costs of providing facilities and services and function as a profit center;

IPI Members include parking and transit professionals from cities, colleges, universities, hospitals, airports, port authorities, civic centers, theme parks, corporate complexes, race tracks, convention and sports centers, state and federal government agencies, commercial parking operators and more. The membership market is rounded out with manufacturers and suppliers of products and equipment, as well as services provided by professional planners and consultants, architects, and private engineers. IPI is the professional link with each of these areas of the market.

Annual Conference & Expo
The International Parking Institute hosts the International Parking Institute Conference & Expo which is the world's largest annual conference of parking professionals, consultants, and suppliers. It provides four days of educational sessions, roundtable discussions, product information and social events where the entire parking industry community comes together to learn, explore and share ideas.

Certification
The International Parking Institute also provides the parking industry’s highly regarded certification. IPI and the University of Virginia have combined their resources to create a rigorous program of professional training and examination culminating in the awarding of the designation, Certified Administration of Public Parking (CAPP). The CAPP program is designed to provide continuous information and training to parking and transportation professionals, increase the body of knowledge and establish a benchmark of excellence for the industry, and provide a means by which parking and transportation professionals may demonstrate their proficiency and be recognized by their peers.
