What is the International Parking Institute?
The International Parking Institute (IPI) is the premier authority on parking and interrelated transportation components. It was formed in 1962 and was originally called the Institutional and Municipal Parking Congress. It changed its name to the International Parking Institute in 1995.
Who are IPI members?
Members include parking and transit professionals from cities, colleges, universities, hospitals, airports, port authorities, civic centers, theme parks, corporate complexes, race tracks, convention and sports centers, state and federal government agencies, commercial parking operators and more. The membership market is rounded out with manufacturers and suppliers of products and equipment, as well as services provided by professional planners and consultants, architects, and private engineers.

What is the Certified Administration of Public Parking (CAPP) program?
Certified Administration of Public Parking or CAPP is IPI’s certification program of professional training and examination and was created with the University of Virginia. The CAPP program is designed to provide continuous information and training to parking and transportation professionals, increase the body of knowledge and establish a benchmark of excellence for the industry, and provide a means by which parking and transportation professionals may demonstrate their proficiency and be recognized by their peers.
